Remembering Jessica L. Gallardo

September 29, 1983- October 31, 2023

A Tribute to our colleague and friend:

Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives, but I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment… Because they’ll never come again.” Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek

We are sad to say goodbye to Jess, and feel grateful for the time with her we were able to have.

Jess was an old soul with a Trekkie heart.  She came into our space and touched many lives.  Whether it was teaching her supervisor that no, in fact, Star Wars and Star Trek are NOT the same thing, or sitting quietly in a space allowing herself and those around her to “just be”.

Jess came to work in the building when she was an intern from Adler and doggedly pursued a meaningful and fulfilling practicum experience as opposed to “just getting hours”.  Through this time she developed a keen insight into attunement, dignity-based therapy and incorporating her contemplative practice into her work.  She shared more of her personality as time went on and proved herself to be a bit of a jokester and a forever learner, demonstrating a voracious appetite for all things theory of mind and oriented towards growth.

She also shared her enduring dedication to raising her son in a deeply intentional and meaningful way, with patience, understanding and unconditional everlasting love and adoration.

For all of these reasons and many, many more, Jess will be greatly missed.

“In this galaxy, there’s a mathematical probability of three million earth-type planets. And in all of the universe, three million galaxies like this. And in all of that…. And perhaps more, only one of each of us.” Dr. McCoy, Star Trek

“Fuck, Quantum Physics is so cool.”–Jessica Gallardo
