I’m Kari Paidin, LMFT, and I believe that healing happens in relationship — with others, and with ourselves. I’m a mom, sister, and spouse who’s navigated my own share of hard things, and — before becoming a therapist — I spent years as a teacher and academic coach; both shape how I show up for clients. I live in the Twin Cities with my husband, two boys, a cat named Ollie, and a golden doodle named Opal, and I believe there’s no shame in asking for extra support through the hard parts of life. I blend body-based work with talk therapy, grounded in brain science, to help clients move from overwhelmed to okay. In session, I show up without a fixed agenda, trusting that clients know themselves better than anyone else — I’m a guide, not a director, following your lead with curiosity, compassion, and a bit of humor. Outside the office, I love conversations that are equal parts silly and deep, a good book, a walk in nature, and — when I can find the time — a DIY project (my miter saw and nail gun bring me genuine joy).
Experience & Specialties
I’m trauma-informed, with experience supporting relational trauma, complex trauma, and single-incident trauma. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating parenting struggles and relationship patterns that keep repeating, using a systems lens that takes family, culture, and community into account. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and culturally sensitive.
Trainings
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART): A brief, evidence-based approach that uses eye movements to help clients replace distressing mental images with more positive ones — often bringing relief in just a few sessions, without needing to verbally relive trauma in detail.
STAIR (Self-Trust and Integrated Resilience): A neurobiologically-informed, integrative approach that helps clients build self-trust and resilience through real-time attention to emotional and body-based experience.
